Lucas Ray knew he wanted to join the orchestra as a sixth-grader at Minerva Park Middle School this year. He favored the sounds of the string instruments but didn’t settle on the viola until after taking a couple of orchestra classes.
Former Heritage Middle School students now in the workforce are invited to share their college and career path as well as advice for current Huskies.
Nominations are now being accepted for the 2025 Westerville MLK Fouse Award, which recognizes Westerville City School District students in grades 6-12 who have demonstrated tolerance, respect for others and/or bravery in the face of adversity; or whose actions have inspired change in their school community and beyond.
Starting Monday, schools throughout the district are rolling out various activities and events to build community and foster a sense of belonging in honor of Start with Hello Week.
Created by the Sandy Hook Promise organization, Start with Hello Week runs Sept. 16-20 and is focused on helping students build empathy, healthy relationships and social awareness through social-emotional lessons and activities.
The Westerville Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 7783 is accepting submissions for the national VFW youth programs as well as nominations for teachers who promote civic responsibility and patriotism.
