Eight proposals from eight Westerville City School District educators and one student have been awarded grants totaling $3,081 from The Bette Marschall Memorial Education Fund of The Columbus Foundation. The fund was established in honor of former Westerville teacher and principal Bette Marschall, who died in 2001.

More than 20 seventh- and eighth-grade students from all five of Westerville City Schools’ middle schools participated in the 2025 Ohio Music Education District 15 Middle School Honor Band on Nov. 8 at Westerville Central High School.

Micah Suttle, a sixth-grader at Heritage Middle School, is a state champion after competing in the Ohio Cross Country Elementary and Middle School Championship on Oct. 18 at Dublin Jerome High School. 

All across Westerville City Schools, students are stepping into their school media centers to dive into stories, collaborate with each other and receive a variety of lessons that help them navigate a world where information is everywhere. 

Artwork created by eighth-graders across the District’s middle schools will be featured in a special art exhibition as part of the Westerville Public Library’s Wizards and Wands Festival.

The Heritage Middle School Music Department is sponsoring a Soapy Joe’s detergent and fabric softener fundraising sale through Oct. 7. Those interested can purchase a variety of laundry detergents, fabric softeners, dish soap and dryer sheets at a discount price. The laundry detergent and fabric softeners, for example, are sold in five-gallon buckets for $48.
